PA: 70 Jewish Obama Supporters Pen Letter
Thu Apr 03, 2008 at 08:16:43 AM PDT
In case you missed it, firstread on MSNBC this morning had a link to a letter written and signed by seventy Jewish supporters of Barack Obama in Pennsylvania. This was done as push-back effort against the circulation of "Muslim" and "anti-Israel" smears within the Jewish community, which have been pushed independently by Jewish supporters of Hillary Clinton and others who have been taken in.

Caught this kernel of information buried in a local article about the Obama campaign whistle-stop in Reading, PA two days ago. I was surprised that I hadn't heard some of this information previously.

This is going to be a pretty short diary, but I've got some good information from inside the Clinton campaign that may shed some light on how they have acted and viewed this race. Brief, but intriguing.

Presidential Elections Aren't Supposed to Be Close

It has amazed me to no small degree in the last several months to read the reactions of many here at DailyKos to the idea of Barack Obama attracting large support from independents and Republicans. To many, this seems like a compromise of values. An effort to ignore the prized chance for Democrats to give the Republicans a public humiliation as revenge for the last eight years. They seem to have a great desire to run roughshod over every member of the GOP and make them pay for inflicting George W. Bush on the country and the world. They are the militant arm of the progressive movement.
Guess what?
You can thank Lee Atwater and Karl Rove for creating them.
I guess tolerance is a tricky issue...

I don't want to pretend that I'm a victim or deserving of any special attention. Far from it. There are definitely people in this world that need more assistance and respect than I do, and this is critical. However, something strange happened yesterday to me on this site that got me thinking.

Republican GOTV Machine: Fact or Myth?

Found this over at Emerging Democratic Majority. Some real food for thought. Maybe it just was a willingness of people to "stay the course" in 2004 - something that seems very different at this point in 2006. Those two polls with Bush's approval ratings and the overall opinion of the Congress seem to strongly indicate otherwise. Just looking at these figures, and I can't help but think that our GOTv is much better than it is often given credit for. Of course, you have to thank yourselves for that work! We need to work even harder this year to mobilize voters everywhere for our side, and make sure the Republicans are unable to forget the moral and economic rot of their party. Don't forget - we were NEVER in this good of a position in 2004, even when we looked to be up. And these being congressional and senatorial elections - every vote matters even more! You CAN do it this time, people are on your side, just get them out!
FEMA: Loaded up with no-bid contracts from the usual suspects

To me, that's almost enough said, but let's hope this gets additional play today. When these same companies continue to pop up in every federal agency, there has to be far too much lobbying going on for the good of the country. These companies, by the merit of their political connections, continue to disgrace the USA at home and abroad.
