Obama responded to McWhiner's new line of attack today. He started off by addressing the Celeb ad:
Speaking to volunteers at an Orlando phone bank, Obama ribbed McCain for taking the campaign into the gutter. "When we started this campaign, we were hoping for a more elevated debate. I mean, imagine — at a time when we face more challenges than at any time in our lifetime, these guys are running ads with Paris and Britney," he said. "That’s frivolous. It’s desperate."

Rush is faking EDS

this article by Linwood Barclay, who argues that Rush is the one that is faking EDS (extreme dick syndrome):
Now, I know this may offend those who suffer from this particular condition, and these individuals might not like it much when I suggest that a certain person with this diagnosis is exaggerating his symptoms, but I have to say, I think Rush Limbaugh is just pretending to be a dick.
While the right-wing radio host does exhibit most, if not all, of the common characteristics of this behaviour, it's so rare for all of them to coalesce at a single moment that one can only conclude Limbaugh's most recent performances are nothing short of fraudulent.
It's official: dKos 3.0 is a disaster

When I first heard that dKos was going to be redesigned I was excited. I'm a liberal - I embrace change and I was hoping that several minor issues with the old site would be fixed.
I logged in yesterday to find that the ads were now in the middle of the page, the margins were a barren waste land, the front pagers were screaming, and Kos was now spelled with a l{. No problem, I thought, changes are bound to involve some disappointment. I was sure I would get used to it and even learn to love the unique layout.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Vice President Dick Cheney slammed Democratic Party boss Howard Dean as "over the top" in a television interview to air on Monday, saying Dean had helped Republicans more than Democrats.
"I think Howard Dean's over the top. I've never been able to understand his appeal. Maybe his mother loved him, but I've never met anybody who does," Cheney told Fox News Channel.
"So far, I think he's probably helped us more than he has them. That's not the kind of individual you want to have representing your political party," Cheney said.
Really? So does that mean bushes approval ratings would be at 25% without Dean's 'Help'?

Why doesn't Fox News allow archiving?

I was looking up some sites at the
Wayback Machine and noticed that Fox News
blocks the crawler that archives websites. For those of you that aren't familiar with the site, it's a site that archives almost every site on the web back to 1996. All of the other news sites, like MSNBC and CNN allow archiving.
It leaves me wondering why they don't want the site archived. Maybe it has something to do with there tendencies to publish fake articles:
On October 1, blogger and journalist Joshua Micah Marshall noted a story on the Fox News Channel's website (since removed, archive here) that contained several fabricated quotes attributed to Senator John Kerry. Soon after, the story was removed from Fox's website.
Marshall spoke to a Fox News representative about the incident, and he said that "Carl [Cameron] made a stupid mistake which he regrets. And he has been reprimanded for his lapse in judgment. It was a poor attempt at humor."
What else is on the site that they don't want in the public archive?
From Bush Aide, Warning on Social Security

Calling the current system of Social Security benefits unsustainable, a top economic adviser to President Bush on Thursday strongly implied that any overhaul of the system would have to include major cuts in guaranteed benefits for future retirees.
"The benefits now scheduled for future generations under current law are not sustainable given the projected path of payroll tax revenue," he added. "They are empty promises."
Mr. Mankiw's remarks suggested that President Bush's plan to let people put some of their Social Security taxes into "personal savings accounts" would have to be accompanied by changes in the current system of benefits.
Like we didn't know this was coming.

I have been watching and waiting for someone to bring up what the 9/11 report stated without naming names. Bush was asleep at the wheel before 9/11.
Here is what the 9/11 report says about actions after the August 6 PDB
We have found no indication of any further discussion before September 11 between the president and his advisors about the possibility of a threat of al Qaeda attack in the United States
And here is, what I think, one of the most damning statements in the report from the head of the MN FBI office reffering to his reason for wanting a search warrant for the 20th hijacker
The supervisor replied that was exactly his intent. He said he was 'trying to keep someone from taking a plane and crashing into the World Trade Center.'
I have noticed that Lawrence O'Donnell has brought this up twice recently. On Scarborough Country and on The McLaughlin Group.
Is he laying the ground work for our October surprise?
